The Pima Community College men's tennis season came to a close on the last day of the NJCAA Division I National Championship on Friday in Plano, TX.

The Aztecs finished in 15th place out of 26 teams with a team score of 11 points.

Freshman Francisco Sotelo (Cholla HS) fell in the consolation finals match at No. 4 singles to Callan Shinall from Meridian Community College (MS) 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles competition, Sotelo and sophomore Dalton Reisig (Catalina Foothills HS) dropped their consolation finals match-up at No. 2 doubles to James Corns and Thompson Tong from Collin College (TX) 6-0, 6-2.

The Aztecs took second place at the Region I Championships last month as sophomores Marc Avalos and Francisco Ton took home the No. 1 doubles region title. The Aztecs had a record of 4-3 during the regular season and were 3-3 in ACCAC conference play in Ian Esquer first year as head coach.

Sotelo will be the only returning player for the 2018 squad.
