Five Aztecs softball players nab All-Conference; Three named All-Region

The Pima Community College softball team was well represented in the All-ACCAC Conference and All-Region teams released on Monday.

Sophomores Margarita Corona (Tucson HS), Courtney Brown (Flowing Wells HS), Gabriela Trejo (Desert View HS) and Bailey Critchlow as well as freshman Mandy Lorenson (Ironwood Ridge HS) earned the honors.

Corona, a catcher, was named first team All-ACCAC as she finished the regular season with 14 home runs and was second in the ACCAC with 90 RBIs. She led the Aztecs with a .467 batting average, 84 hits and 24 doubles. She was second with 180 at-bats and played in all 57 games.

Brown, an outfielder, was named first team All-ACCAC for the second straight year and was also selected to the All-Region I, Division I team. She was second in the conference with 29 steals. Brown led the Aztecs with 183 at-bats, 74 runs scored, 10 triples and tied for the lead with 29 walks. She batted .421 with four homers and 33 RBIs in 56 games played. She also had a fielding percentage of .977.

Lorenson, a pitcher, was selected second team All-ACCAC and to the All-Region I, Division I team. Lorenson threw six no-hitters on the season in 22 starts as she finished second in the conference with 137 strikeouts. She pitched 109.1 innings with a 14-6 record and a 3.52 ERA.

Trejo, an infielder, was also selected second team All-ACCAC and named to the All-Region I, Division I team. She batted .360 with five home runs and 29 RBIs. Trejo tied for the team-lead with 29 walks as she had 45 hits in 125 at-bats with 37 runs scored in 48 games played.

Critchlow, a pitcher/infielder, was selected third team All-ACCAC. She was second on the team with 63 runs scored, 23 steals and nine doubles. Critchlow racked up 61 hits and had four triples and 31 RBIs to go along with 22 walks in 153 at-bats. She played in 51 games and produced a fielding percentage of .972. Critchlow pitched 141.1 innings with a 17-8 record and a 4.01 ERA.

The Aztecs will be the No. 4 seed at the Region I, Division I tournament held at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott on Friday and Saturday. They'll start the double elimination tournament against No. 1 seeded Yavapai College on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
