Softball's Camilla Zepeda and Jazmyne Waddell sweep ACCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards

Sophomore Camila Zepeda was selected ACCAC Division I Player of the Week while freshman Jazmyne Waddell (San Manuel HS) was named ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 10-16. Pima Community College softball players Camila Zepeda (Tucson Magnet HS) and Jazmyne Waddell (San Manuel HS) flexed their muscles during the six games played for the week of March 10-16 as they got recognition from the ACCAC conference.

  • Zepeda, a sophomore infielder, was named ACCAC Division I Player of the Week while Waddell was selected as the ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week.
  • Zepeda finished the week going 13 for 20 (.650) at the plate with four home runs, 17 RBIs, nine runs scored, one double, one triple and one stolen base. She was 4 for 6 with two homers and seven RBIs against Eastern Arizona College.
    Zepeda is batting .500 (43 for 86) in 26 games played with eight home runs 28 RBIs, 31 runs scored, eight doubles, three walks and four stolen bases.
  • Waddell, a freshman LHP, pitched 17 innings, giving up one earned one on 14 hits with 16 strikeouts and five walks as she went 3-0 for the week. She pitched a complete-game shutout against Eastern Arizona College, giving up five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
    She is 6-1 on the season with a 4.74 ERA in 31 innings pitched. She has 20 strikeouts and eight walks.

The Aztecs are back on the road on Saturday when they play at Paradise Valley Community College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First game starts at noon in Phoenix.
