Duffy takes fourth in triple jump, relay team takes sixth in 4x800 at NJCAA Championships

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams are competing in the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships in Hutchinson, KS.

The men's team has earned eight points in the first two days of competition. Freshman Cam Duffy (Peoria HS) took fourth place in the triple jump with a mark of 47-feet, 9-inches (14.55 meters) which he hit on his third attempt. His finish gave the Aztecs five team points.

The 4x800 relay team of freshmen Victor Bustamante (Flowing Wells HS), Gabe Atchley, Andy Trinh (Catalina HS) and Collin Dylla (Ironwood Ridge HS) took sixth place with a time of 7 minutes, 55.53 seconds giving the Aztecs three points.

In other men's finishes, freshman Seth Jarus (Wickenburg HS) took 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 44-7 (13.59 meters).

In women's competition, freshman Alyssa Watkins (Camp Verde HS) placed 13th in the hammer throw with a mark of 148-1 (45.14 meters).

Sophomore Hannah Bartz took 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 36-7.75 (11.04 meters). She took home the Region I title in the triple jump earlier this month.

The final day of the NJCAA Division I Championships will be tomorrow at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, KS.
