Smith Drops 28 as Aztecs Women's Basketball Win at Glendale CC

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (6-2, 3-0 in ACCAC) opened up a lead against Glendale Community College (6-2, 1-2) after the second quarter as the Aztecs remained undefeated in ACCAC conference play.

The Aztecs defeated Glendale 91-64 on the road. After taking a 26-22 advantage after the first quarter, the Aztecs outscored them 25-13 to take a 51-35 lead at halftime.

Freshman Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) led the way with 28 points. Sophomore Shalise Fernander (Flowing Wells HS) scored 17 points while fellow sophomore Gabby Banales (Cienega HS) contributed with 10 points. Freshman Aubre Fortner crashed the boards as she had 12 rebounds to go along with seven points.

The Aztecs will head back out on the road on Saturday to play Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. The game will be at 5:30 p.m.
