Aztecs women's basketball struggle on offense, fall at Cochise College

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (11-3, 5-2 in ACCAC) couldn't put it together on Saturday at Cochise College (13-1, 6-1).

The No. 2 ranked Aztecs (Division II) fell to Apaches (Division I) 57-44 in Douglas. The Aztecs had won 10 of their last 11 games heading into tonight's match-up.

The Aztecs trailed 17-12 after the first quarter and managed just 14 points combined in the second and third quarters.

Sophomore Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde HS) scored a team-high 11 points while fellow sophomore Bree Cates had 10 points and went 7 for 8 from the free throw line. Sophomores Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) and Erin Peterson (Catalina Foothills HS) each had nine points.

The Aztecs will look to rebound on Wednesday when they play Phoenix College at the West Campus gym. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.
