The Pima Community College women's basketball program added firepower at the point guard position for the 2017-18 season.

Jacqulynn "JJ" Nakai (Coconino HS), a 5-7 point guard, signed her letter of intent to play for the Aztecs. She led Coconino to a 27-5 overall record as she averaged 20.2 points, 7.1 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game in her senior year.

Nakai was named 4A Grand Canyon Region Player of the Year, 4A Grand Canyon Offensive Player of the Year, two-time Arizona Daily Sun Player of the Year (2016, 2017) and Navajo Times Player of the Year and All-Star. She was also AIA 4A first team All-Conference and 4A Grand Canyon first team All-Region.

"JJ has been a trendendous point guard her whole career at Coconino," Pima women's basketball coach Todd Holthaus said. "She does it all: scores, looks for her teammates and rebounds well for a guard. Her passion for playing basketball will inspire her future Aztec teammates."
