NJCAA All-American and Player of the Year Nakai signs to the University of Nevada

Pima Community College women's basketball player Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) signed her national letter of intent to continue her education and collegiate career at the NCAA Division I level.

Nakai, a guard, will play for the University of Nevada out of the Mountain West Conference, starting in the fall.

Nakai had one of the greatest careers in Pima women's basketball history. She is a two-time first team NJCAA All-American and was the first Pima women's basketball player to be named outright ACCAC Player of the Year. Nakai set new school records in points (1,397) and assists (442) this season.

She became the first Pima women's basketball player to be selected for the WBCA Two-Year College Coaches' Al-American honorable mention's list in 2018. Nakai was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for a school record nine times over the course of her career.

Nakai played in 35 of the 36 games this season averaging 24.1 points, 6.7 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals. In her freshman season, she played in all 32 games as she averaged 17.3 points, 6.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals.
