Jaden Leslie scores 14 off the bench as Aztecs Women's Basketball wins sixth straight

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (18-7, 11-5 in ACCAC) continues to roll as it played for the second straight day.

  • The No. 12 ranked Aztecs had a strong first quarter and went on to beat South Mountain Community College 79-50 on Saturday earning their sixth straight win. It was the second time in as many days the Aztecs had won by that exact final score. This was the first road game for the Aztecs since Jan. 22.
  • The Aztecs outscored the Cougars 27-7 in the opening quarter and took a 41-21 lead at halftime.
  • The Aztecs grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and beat the Cougars (1-14, 0-11) on the boards 46-34.
  • Freshman Jaden Leslie (Dobson HS) came off the bench to lead the Aztecs with 14 points as she went 6 for 12 from the field. She also had six rebounds and three assists.
  • Sophomore Nikya Orange (Tanque Verde HS) posted nine points and seven rebounds while fellow sophomore Melissa Simmons finished with nine points going 2 for 5 from three-point range. Freshman Luisayde Chavez (Rio Rico HS) also had nine points on 3 for 5 shooting.
  • Freshmen Jaslyn Booker (Buena HS) and Aiona Johnson each had eight points off the bench.
  • The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host Mesa Community College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
