Aztecs Women's Golf Take Third Place at South Mountain Invitational

The Pima Community College women's golf team took third place in the South Mountain CC Invitational on Tuesday at the Legacy Golf Resort in Laveen, AZ.

The Aztecs finished with a two-day score of 702 (341-360). Mesa Community College took first place with 633 (320-313) while South Mountain Community College placed second with 652 (334-318). Chandler-Gilbert Community College was fourth with 820. Pima had placed second in their first four tournaments of the season.

Freshman Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) improved in the second round of play as she shot a one-over par 72 and finished the individual tournament in second place with a two-day total of 150 (78-72). She finished five strokes off the lead.

Freshman Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro HS) took 11th place in the standings as she shot a 173 (88-85) while freshman Raquel Converse tied for 12th with a 178 (90-88). Sophomore Casey Morinelli (Mountain View HS) shot a 188 (85-103) and tied for 16th while fellow sophomore Carley Nelson (Marana HS) took 18th after shooting a 191 (91-100).

The Aztecs will host the final regular season tournament of the year at the Silverbell Golf Course on Apr. 18-19. The teams will tee off at 11:00 a.m. on both days.
