Aztecs women's golf takes second place at Scottsdale Invitational

The Pima Community College women's golf team took second place for the second straight tournament on Tuesday at the Scottsdale Invitational.

The Aztecs finished with a two-day total of 689 (344-345) at the Hillcrest Golf Course in Sun City, AZ. Mesa Community College took first place with a 667 (343-324).

Sophomore Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) earned medalist honors after she finished tied for first place with Mesa's Haley Kapanicas for the second straight tournament. They each shot a 3-under par 69 and finished with a two-day total of 138 (69-69).

Sophomore Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro HS) took seventh place in the individual standings with a two-day score of 173 (88-85). Freshman Abby Miller (Ironwood Ridge HS) shot a 174 (87-87) while freshman Juliana Perez (Tucson HS) finished with a 204 (100-104).

The Aztecs will play in the Estrella Mountain Invitational on Feb. 27-28 at the Tres Rios Golf Course in Goodyear, AZ. The teams will begin to tee-off at 10:00 a.m. on both days.
