Three Pima golfers earn honors at Pima Invitational

The Pima Community College women's golf team took three of the top six spots in the individual standings on Tuesday at the Pima Invitational.

The Aztecs took second place with a two-day total of 662 (333-329) at the Dell Urich Golf Course. Mesa Community College took first place with a score of 641 (330-311).

Sophomores Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) and Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro HS) along with freshman Abby Miller (Ironwood Ridge HS) earned medals for the Aztecs.

Hong won her second invitational this season as she shot a one-over par 71 in Monday's round and responded with a two-under par 68 on Tuesday. She finished with a total of 139 (-1). She won the individual tournament by 10-strokes.

Miller finished in fourth place as she shot a season-best 76 in the final round and finished with a 157 (81-76). Hacker tied for fifth place after she shot a 158 (80-78). Freshman Juliana Perez (Tucson HS) finished a 208 (101-107).

The Aztecs will compete in their final regular season invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Apr. 17-18 at the Paradise Valley Invitational. It will be at the Wildfire Golf Course in Phoenix. The teams will begin to tee-off at 12:30 p.m. on both days.
