Hong and Aztecs women's golf take second place at Paradise Valley Invitational

The Pima Community College women's golf team closed out the regular season on Tuesday as part of the Paradise Valley Invitational at the Wildfire Golf Course in Phoenix.

The Aztecs struggled on the golf course for the first round but recovered to take second place with a two-day total of 762 (388-374). Mesa Community College took first place with a total of 665 (324-341).

Sophomore Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) took second place and finished six-strokes off of the leader. She shot an 87 on the par 71 course on Monday but came back with a five-over par 76 in the second round to finish with a 163.

Sophomore Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro HS) also had an 11-stroke improvement from her first round as she shot a 179 (95-84) to finish in eighth place. Freshman Abby Miller (Ironwood Ridge HS) placed 10th and shot a 187 (88-99) while freshman Juliana Perez (Tucson HS) finished with a 233 (118-115).

The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA National Championship on May 15-18 at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Duluth, GA.
