Aztecs women's golfer Victoria Peña closes out play in the NJCAA National Championship

Pima Community College women's golfer Victoria Peña (Tucson Magnet HS) closed out play in the NJCAA National Championship in Ormond Beach, FL.

  • Peña did not quality to play in the final round so she finished with a three-round score of 294 (100-96-98).
  • Coach's Quote: "Victoria struggled in the beginning and she was never really able to recover. We'll take this as a learning experience," Pima women's golf coach Marcus Smith said. "We were able to see what the competition looks like which allows us to gage where we need to be. We have a busy off-season and expect to be back next year."
  • Peña was named first team All-ACCAC and first team all-Region.
  • She finished in the top six in the individual standings for four of the six regular season tournaments she competed in. In the last three tournaments of the season, she set new season-best. Her best round of the year was an 80 on April 26 at the Paradise Valley Invitational.
