Myranda Moreno and Arianna Rel earn medalist honors as Women's Golf takes second place at PVCC Invitational

The Pima Community College women's golf team competed in its second tournament of the season on Sunday and Monday at the Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix.

  • The Aztecs took second place in the final team standings as they finished with a two-day total of 695 (348-347). Chandler-Gilbert Community College took first place with a total of 682 (331-351) while South Mountain Community College placed third with 764 (379-385).
  • Sophomore Myranda Moreno (Tucson Magnet HS) was the top individual finisher for the Aztecs as she took fifth place and earned medalist honors with a two-day score of 165. She shot an 81 in the first round and closed out the tournament with an 84 in the final round.
  • Freshman Arianna Rel also earned medalist honors as she took sixth place with a score of 167. She also shot an 81 in the first round and closed out Monday's final round with an 86.
  • Sophomore Kayley Yanez (Marana HS) finished with a 179 (90-89) while freshman Brooklin Montoya had a 8-stroke improvement between rounds and shot a 184 (96-88).

The Aztecs will hit the link at the Sundance Golf Course for the Estrella Mountain CC Invitational on Mar. 10-11. Teams will begin to tee off at 12:30 p.m.
