Hunley and McPherson net goals as Aztecs blank South Mountain

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (1-0, 1-0 in ACCAC conference) started the season with a strong effort on defense on Tuesday as it opened the 2015 season at Kino North Stadium.

The No. 7 ranked Aztecs blanked South Mountain Community College 2-0 as they allowed just two shots on goals for the game. Pima finished with 17 shots on goal.

Sophomore Devyn Hunley (Sabino HS) put the Aztecs on the board with her goal in the 18th minute with an assist from fellow sophomore Brandi Park (Sabino HS). Freshman Gentry McPherson added an insurance goal right in front of the net in the 25th minute with an assist from freshman Aracely Romero (Tucson Magnet HS).

Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) started the game from behind the net and recorded one save. Mason Howard (Marana HS) took over in the second half and finished with one save.

The Aztecs will play at Phoenix College on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
