Garcia Nets Two Goals as Aztecs Women's Soccer Earn Another Shutout

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (4-0, 4-0 in ACCAC) continue to show a strong defensive front as it was on display once again on Saturday at Kino North Stadium.

The No. 5 ranked Aztecs defeated Glendale Community College 5-0 as they allowed one shot on goal for the game and earned their fourth straight shutout victory.

Freshman Daniela Garcia (Desert View HS) helped put the Aztecs ahead in the first half as she scored two goals in the 39th and 42nd minutes. Her first goal was a header into the net with a corner kick assist from sophomore Brandi Park (Sabino HS). Garcia's second goal was a shot in front of the net with an assist from fellow freshman Maria Delgadillo (Rio Rico HS). Pima led 3-0 at the break.

Park scored the first goal of the game with a shot that got passed the Glendale goalkeeper in the 16th minute.Freshman Destiny Jones (Canyon del Oro HS) scored her goal in the 71st minute and sophomore Maria Mata netted her insurance goal in the 86th. Maria Delgadillo (Rio Rico HS), Prescilla Gonzalez (Buena HS) (pictured) and Gentry McPherson each had an assist.

The Aztecs finished with 26 shots on goal. Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) had no saves in the first half. Mason Howard (Marana HS) finished the game and had one save.

The Aztecs will play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
