McPherson Nets Two Goals in Women's Soccer Win

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (5-1, 5-1 in ACCAC) got back on track at the Kino North Grandstand on Thursday against Scottsdale Community College.

The No. 6 ranked Aztecs earned their fifth shutout of the season after they defeated Scottsdale 3-0. Freshman Gentry McPherson (pictured) scored two goals and sophomore Brandi Park (Sabino HS) had two assists.

McPherson scored her first goal in the 29th minute with an assist from sophomore Lexxi Hanabergh (Sahuaro HS) and the score stood at 1-0 at the break.

Devyn Hunley (Sabino HS) found the back of the net in the 49th minute with an assist from Park. McPherson added one more insurance goal in the 79th with a shot in front of the net with the assist from Park.

The Aztecs outshot Scottsdale 16-3 and freshman Daniela Sanchez, who was named NJCAA Goalie of the Week, had three saves.

The Aztecs will play in Phoenix on Saturday against Paradise Valley Community College at the Reach 11 Sports Complex. The game will start at 5:30 p.m.
