Pablo and Mata Nets Goals as Aztecs Women's Soccer Beat Mesa

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (8-1, 8-1 in ACCAC) earned its fifth shutout at home on Saturday as the Aztecs defeated Mesa Community College 2-0.

The No. 6 ranked Aztecs have only given up one goal in six home games at the Kino Sports Complex and have won four straight.

Freshman Shania Pablo (Tucson Magnet HS) put the Aztecs on the board with her goal in the 28th minute assisted from fellow freshman Mauri Urcadez (Tucson Magnet HS). The Aztecs continued to pressure Mesa and it paid off again. Sophomore Maria Mata (Desert View HS) (pictured) made a great move and hit her shot from the left side of the goal in the 42nd minute. Sophomore Brandi Park (Sabino HS) had the assist.

The Aztecs finished the game with 19 shots on goal and Mesa had two shots. Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) finished the game with two saves.

The Aztecs will host GateWay Community College on Tuesday at the Kino North Grandstand at 4:30 p.m.
