Sanchez Has Eight Saves as Aztecs Women's Soccer Tie Against Chandler-Gilbert CC

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (11-1-2, 11-1-2 in ACCAC) were in a battle on Thursday at the Kino North Grandstand and had their chances against Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The Aztecs and Chandler-Gilbert played to a scoreless tie 0-0. The Pima's defense had to hold off a couple of surges in the second half and the two 10 minute overtimes. Chandler-Gilbert had two corner kicks in the second overtime and Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) made a great save on the first and freshman Maury Urcadez (Tucson Magnet HS) cleared the net in the nick of time on the second attempt. Sophomore Marie Mata (Desert View HS) had a shot with one minute left that was saved.

The Aztecs finished with 16 shots on goal as Chandler-Gilbert had eight. Sanchez made some tremendous saves to keep the game scoreless. She finished the game with eight saves. The Aztecs had lost at Chandler-Gilbert 3-2 last month in Chandler.

The Aztecs will be back on the road on Saturday when they play at Scottsdale Community College at noon.
