The Pima Community College women's soccer team (6-3, 6-3 in ACCAC) took control of its game in the second half on Tuesday at Mesa Community College (4-5, 4-5).
The Aztecs scored three goals in the second half to beat the Thunderbirds 4-1.
Sophomore Destiny Jones (Canyon del Oro HS) netted two goals. She broke open the 1-1 tie with her goal in the 59th minute. She helped seal the win with her penalty kick goal in the 85th minute.
The Aztecs fell behind 1-0 after the Thunderbirds scored in the 12th minute. Freshman Destiny Kelly tied the game in the 39th minute. Freshman Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) gave the Aztecs a 3-1 advantage with her goal in the 84th minute.
The Aztecs outshot the Thunderbirds 14-2 for the game. Sophomore Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) finished the game with one save.
The Aztecs face a tough road test on Thursday at No. 20 ranked Arizona Western College. The game starts at 7:00 p.m.
