PCC women's tennis fall against Ohio Northern

The Pima Community College women's tennis team dropped two of its three doubles matches and could not overtake Ohio Northern University in singles on Thursday (3/5) at the West Campus.

Noelle Karp (Catalina Foothills HS) and Cristina Oropeza (Nogales HS) won their singles and doubles matches to keep Pima in the match but the Aztecs fell 6-3.

Karp and Oropeza (pictured) defeated Christina Corbean and Brittany Toney 8-6 in the No. 1 doubles match. Karp beat Michelle Tuma in the No. 1 singles match 7-6, 6-1 while Oropeza outlasted Corbean 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles spot.

Yani Alameda (Pueblo HS) fell at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2 and Ema Hernandez (Sunnyside HS) dropped her match at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Alameda and Hernandez were shut out in their No. 2 doubles match 8-0.

Stephanie Nickles (Canyon del Oro HS) lost her No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-1 while Jahnessa Mackey (Amphitheater HS) fell at the No. 6 singles spot 6-1, 6-3. The duo lost in the No. 3 doubles match 8-3.

The Aztecs will be in California as they play at San Diego-Mesa College on Mar. 17. The match will start at 2:00 p.m.
