Karp Advances to Consolation Final at NJCAA National Tournament

The Pima Community College women's tennis team continued play at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament on Tuesday in Tyler, TX.

The Aztecs finished the day with 12.5 points and remain in 15th place in the team standings.

Sophomore Noelle Karp (Catalina Foothills HS) advanced to the No. 3 singles consolation bracket finals. She blanked Celine Marin from Eastern Arizona College 8-0 in the quarterfinals and defeated Rachel Rhett from Hinds Community College (MS) 8-1 in the semifinals.

Karp will play Agustina Grimolizzi from North Central Texas College in the finals on Wednesday morning.

Sophomore Stephanie Nickles (Ironwood Ridge HS) picked up a victory in the No. 4 singles consolation bracket quarterfinals when she earned a shutout win over Sydney Williams from Eastern Arizona College 8-0. She fell in the semifinals to No. 4 seeded Amiena Houston from the State College of Florida 8-4.

In doubles competition, the No. 3 doubles team of Nickles and freshman Fernanda Miller (Nogales HS) lost to Morgan Trask and Taylor Whitehead from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (GA) 8-2.
