Four Aztec cross country runners compete at NJCAA National Championships

The Pima Community College men's and women's cross country teams sent four representatives to the NJCAA National Championships on Saturday.

Sophomores David Fernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) and Armando Antonio Jr. (Desert View HS), Samantha Felzien as well as freshman Alonso Sodari (Walden Grove HS) competed at the Prairie Trails Golf Course in El Dorado, KS.

In the men's 8K (4.97-mile) race, Fernandez took 33rd place out of 303 competitors with a time of 26 minutes, 13.84 seconds. Antonio Jr. took 130th with a closing time of 27:58.11 while Sodari was 170th at 28:23.00.

In the women's 5K (3.11-mile) race, Felzien placed 45th out of 316 runners with a time of 19:30.68.
