Cesar Saenz (Feb. 19-25) and Luisa Chavez (Feb. 12-18) earn ACCAC Division II Player of the Week recognition

Pima Community College basketball players Cesar Saenz (Sabino HS) and Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS) continued their stellar play as the regular season winded down and received noticed from the ACCAC conference.

Saenz, a sophomore guard, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the second time this season after he averaged 15.5 points, seven rebounds and 5.5 assists in wins over Chandler-Gilbert Community College and Central Arizona College for the week of Feb. 19-25. He took home his first player of the week honor for Nov. 21-27.
Chavez, a sophomore guard, was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-18. She averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in Pima's road wins at Arizona Western College and Glendale Community College. It was her second selection as player of the week as she previously took home the award for the week of Jan. 15-21.

The Aztecs both earned the No. 1 seeds for their respected NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournaments. The men's team will host No. 4 Phoenix College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The women will play No. 4 Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. both games will be at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
