The Pima Community College Athletics department has a new leader. Ken Jacome, the Pima baseball head coach for the last six years, accepted the Athletic Director's position. Jacome is 214-90 in six seasons. He picked up his 200th win on March 19 at Glendale Community College. He will remain the program's head coach.

"I am honored to accept the Athletic Director's position at Pima Community College," Jacome said. I look forward to partnering with the coaches and staff to build upon the success of this department. The last six years as the baseball coach have been very rewarding and I'm excited for the opportunity now to have a positive impact on over 300 student-athletes."

Jacome is replacing Jim Monaco, who served as Athletic Director since 2018, and was previously the head football coach from 2014-2018. He was an assistant coach under Jeff Scurran when the program launched in 2001.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ken Jacome as PCC's next Athletic Director," said Interim Chancellor Dolores Duran Cerda. "After successfully leading our nationally recognized baseball program, Ken will provide outstanding leadership in continuing PCC's tradition of producing student-athletes who succeed both in competition and in the classroom. "

Jacome earned his Master's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education from Oklahoma City University. He graduated from Rincon/University High School.

He coached the Pueblo High School baseball team from 1995-1996 before joining Jerry Stitt's staff as a volunteer assistant at the University of Arizona from 1997-1998. Jacome started the baseball program at El Paso Community College and led the Tejanos to three Western Junior College Athletic Conference titles (2001, 2002, 2004.) He accumulated a record of 207-122-2 in six seasons (1999-2004.)

Jacome was an assistant coach for Edgar Soto on the 2002 USA Junior National Team which captured the bronze medal in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Jacome joined Coach Rich Alday's staff at the University of New Mexico as the pitching coach in 2004, and then infield coach/recruiting coordinator in 2009.
