Aztecs baseball drops final two games at Chandler-Gilbert CC

The Pima Community College baseball team (24-27, 17-23 in ACCAC) closed out its season as it was swept on the road on Saturday at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

Game 1: Chandler-Gilbert CC Coyotes 10, Pima CC Aztecs 8 (7 innings)

The Aztecs took the lead in the fifth inning but Chandler-Gilbert rallied as the Aztecs dropped the first game 10-8. Down 7-4 in the fourth, Trey Stine (Ironwood Ridge HS) hit an RBI single to score Devin Harrison (Ironwood Ridge HS). Ryan Ramsower (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored on an error to make it 7-6. In the fifth inning, Harrison tied the game with an RBI double to plate Jaquese Moore (Marcos de Niza HS). Ivan Estrella (Tucson Magnet HS) gave Pima the lead at 8-7 with an RBI single that scored Harrison. Chandler-Gilbert scored two in the bottom of the 5th inning and one in the 6th to retake the lead for good.

Stine went 1 for 2 with two RBIs while Ramsower was 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Harrison finished 1 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Estrella went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored and Moore was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Vinnie Tarantola (Sahuaro HS) took the loss (4-5) after he pitched two and two-third innings in relief giving up three runs (three earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.

Game 2: Chandler-Gilbert CC Coyotes 3, Pima CC Aztecs 2 (9 innings)

The Aztecs scored two runs in the 1st inning but Chandler-Gilbert had the final rally once again in Pima's 3-2 loss in the second game. Tarantola hit a two-run RBI single that scored Ramsower and Stine to give Pima the early advantage. After the first inning, the Aztecs managed two hits for the rest of the game and finished with six walks. Chandler-Gilbert scored two runs in the 7th and one in the 8th. Tarantola went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Ruben Bracamontes (Sunnyside HS) was 1 for 3 while Estrella finished 1 for 3 with a double.

Chris Kucko (Sahuarita HS) took the loss (5-7) as he threw a complete-game giving up three runs (three earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
