Aztecs Football Score 19 Unanswered in 4th Quarter to Beat Eastern Arizona

The Pima Community College football team (3-0) capped off a remarkable fourth quarter comeback on Saturday in Thatcher.

Down 33-17 to begin the quarter, the Aztecs scored 19 unanswered points to remain undefeated and beat Eastern Arizona College 36-33.

Pima began its final drive on their own 39-yardline. On the drive, Deontay Townsend (Mountain Pointe HS) had a 13-yard run and Sirgeo Hoffman had a 16-yard run to put the Aztecs in good shape in Eastern Arizona territory. A pass interference call put the Aztecs in the red zone and Antonio Hinojosa (Mountain Pointe HS) capped it off with a five-yard touchdown pass to Timmy Hernandez (Mountain Pointe HS) (pictured) for the game-winner with 41 seconds left. Landry Payne (Mountain Pointe HS) secured the win with an interception as time ran out.

The Aztecs took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter but Eastern Arizona would outscored Pima 33-3 before the fourth quarter.

Townsend rushed for 209 yards on 36 carries and two rushing touchdowns. Pima had 274 yards on the ground for the game. Hernandez had nine catches for 120 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Hinojosa went 15 for 34 with 169 yards and a touchdown pass.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium next Saturday against the New Mexico Military Institute at 7:00 p.m.
