Aztecs Men's Basketball Falters in Second Half in Loss at Central Arizona

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (9-8, 4-5 in ACCAC) couldn't close out its game on Saturday at Central Arizona College.

The Aztecs fell to Central Arizona (10-6, 5-4) 70-62 as Pima scored just 10 points in the final 11:44 of the game. They went 8 for 16 from the line and had one field goal in that stretch.

The Aztecs outscored the Vaqueros 11-6 to start off the second half. Freshman Damon Dubots hit a pair of free throws to give the Aztecs their biggest lead of the game at 52-44 with 11:44 left. Central Arizona went on a 16-2 run in the next five minutes to put the Aztecs behind at 60-54. Pima would get as close as three points at 60-57 with 5:41 left.

Sophomore Justice Martion finished with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Kwintin Williams had 15 points and six rebounds while Jake Anastasi (Cactus Shadows HS) contributed with 10 points and six rebounds.

The Aztecs look to bounce back on Wednesday when they play at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix. The game is at 7:30 p.m.
