Jaylen Alexander earns second call as ACCAC Player of the Week

Pima Community College men's basketball player Jaylen Alexander (Columbia HS, ID) earned his second nod as ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4-10. His first selection was for the week of Dec. 3-9.

  • Alexander, a sophomore forward, helped the Aztecs goes 2-0 as he averaged 23.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
  • He scored 29 points (second-highest of his career) in their 97-81 win at South Mountain Community College and posted his third double-double of the season after he had 18 points and 10 rebounds in Pima's 100-90 win against Yavapai College.
  • Alexander went 16 for 24 (67 percent) from the field, 1 for 1 (100 percent) from three-point range and 14 for 20 (70 percent) from the foul line.
  • He has played in all 24 games; making 23 starts and is averaging 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

The No. 15 ranked Aztecs are back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host Mesa Community College. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
