Gonzales scores 36 points; Oldham has double-double as Men's Basketball moves to 9-0

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (9-0, 4-0 in ACCAC) survived a road test on Saturday at Glendale Community College (6-3, 1-2).

  • The No. 7 ranked Aztecs played a tough game, beating the Gauchos 86-80 to remain undefeated. It was their first single-digit margin of victory so far this season. They have beaten their opponents by an average of 48 points in the first eight games.
  • The Aztecs led 37-32 at halftime and outscored the Gauchos 49-48 in the second half.
  • Sophomore Cohenj Gonzales (Mesquite HS) scored a game-high 36 points as he went 15 for 26 from the field and drained four 3-pointers. He also added six assists and five rebounds.
  • Sophomore Gabe Oldham could not be contained in the paint as he finished with a double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds. He was 8 for 10 shooting.
  • Sophomore Kota Benson (Mesa HS) scored 13 points off the bench as he went 3 for 6 from the floor and had five assists and three rebounds.

The Aztecs take to the road once again on Wednesday when they play at Mesa Community College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
