Jay Shero shoots a 2-under par 70 after second round at the NJCAA National Championships

The Pima Community College men's golf team completed the second round of play at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Wednesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.

  • The Aztecs sit in 22nd place out of 24 teams with a two-day total of 592 (298-301).
  • Sophomore Jay Shero closed out Wednesday's round with a 2-under par 70. He shot an even-par 72 in the first round and has a total of 142. He is tied for 16th place in the individual standings but is only five-strokes behind leader Matthis Lefevre from New Mexico Junior College (68-69-137).
  • Freshman Herman Holst shot a 1-over par 73 on the first day and has a two-round score of 150 (73-77) as he is tied for 76th place.
  • Sophomore Max Krueger (Salpointe Catholic HS) closed out the first day with an even-par score of 72 but finished the second round with an 80. He is tied for 96th with a total of 152.
  • Freshman Daniel Aitken has a two-day score of 164 (81-83). Sophomore Caleb Knight closed out his second round of play with a 2-over par 74.

The Aztecs continue play in the third round on Thursday.
