Romero Scores Two Goals as Aztecs Men's Soccer Beat Chandler-Gilbert CC

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (11-1-2, 11-1-2 in ACCAC) took an early advantage but had to tough out the win in the end against Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The No. 5 ranked Aztecs defeated Chandler-Gilbert 5-2 on Thursday at the Kino North Grandstand. The Aztecs went up 3-0 in the first 14 minutes of the game with goals by sophomore Ryan Bristow (Ironwood Ridge HS), freshman Lorenzo Rodriguez and sophomore Jason Romero.

In the second half, Chandler-Gilbert scored in the 51st and 57th minutes to cut Pima's lead to 3-2. The Aztecs responded later in the half when sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez (Flowing Wells HS) scored on a free kick in the 68th minute. Romero added an insurance goal in the 77th minute to help seal it.

The Aztecs outshot Chandler-Gilbert 12-4 for the game and freshman goalkeeper Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) had two saves.

The Aztecs will be back on the road when they play at Scottsdale Community College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
