Joel Gardner and Reece Gardner take down school records after first day at NJCAA Indoor National Championships
![Sophomore Reece Gardner (Marana HS) and freshman Joel Gardner (Ironwood Ridge HS) took down a couple Pima school records in the first day of the NJCAA Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, KS. Reece took third place in the Pole Vault and set a Pima Indoor record with a vault of 15-feet, 5-inches. Joel placed eighth in the 5,000 meter race and set a new Pima school record with a time of 14 minutes, 43.36 seconds. Competition continues and concludes on Saturday. The Pima Community College men's track & field team finished the first day of competition at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, KS.
- The Aztecs finished the day with seven team points and sit in 14th place in the team standings.
- Sophomore Reece Gardner (Marana HS) earned third place and six points for the Aztecs in the Pole Vault as he broke the Pima Indoor school record by four inches with a vault of 4.73 meters (15-feet, 5-inches). He sits in sixth place in the Heptathlon; which will be completed after Saturday's events.
- Freshman Joel Gardner (Ironwood Ridge HS) earned NJCAA All-American honors and broke the Pima school record in the 5,000 meter race by 25 seconds as he finished with a time of 14 minutes, 43.36 seconds. He earned one team point for Pima.
- The Aztecs will compete in the final day of the Indoor National Championships on Saturday in Pittsburg, KS.
