Elijah Conroy earns national qualifier in 3,000 steeplechase at Mesa Invitational

The Pima Community College men's track & field team competed in its final regular season meet on Friday at the Mesa Invitational held at Mesa Community College.

  • Freshman Elijah Conroy (Rincon HS) earned a season-best and NJCAA national qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He took first place with a time of 9 minutes, 47.55 seconds.
  • Freshman Nasir Tucker improved on his national qualifying mark in the Long Jump. He took second place with a new personal-best jump of 7.36 meters (24-feet, 1.75-inches). He set his qualifier last week at the Gaucho Invitational with a mark of 7.32 meters (24-0.25).

The No. 4 ranked Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I Multi's Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Mesa Community College. Competition begins at 3:00 p.m. on both days.
