Aztecs Men's Track & Field come away with six NJCAA Indoor All-Americans and take 15th place at Indoor Nationals

The Aztecs Men's Track & Field team finished in 15th place in the final team standings with a score of 17.66 points as they came away with six NJCAA Indoor All-Americans. The Pima Community College Men's Track & Field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, TX.

  • The No. 8 ranked Aztecs finished 15th in the final standings with a total of 17.66 points.
  • Sophomore Raekwon Weatherspoon earned All-American honors in the Long Jump as he finished in fourth place with a mark of 7.63 meters (25-feet, 0.5-inches) on his first attempt. He earned five team points for the Aztecs.
  • Freshman Cedric Cade closed out the Heptathlon in fourth place with a total of 4988 points earned five points towards the team score. It is a new PR and he sits in second in Pima school history for the event.
  • Sophomore Carter Huntsman and freshman Ketch Sulpizio (Gila Ridge HS) each tied for fifth place in the Pole Vault reaching a vault of 4.63 meters (15-2.25) on their first attempts. They each earned 3.5 points.
  • Sophomores Tyler Rogers and Nathaniel Curtiss (Rincon/University HS) tied for eighth place in the High Jump as they both reached a height of 2.04 meters (6-feet, 8.25-inches) on their second attempts. They were part of a three-way tie so they each earned 0.33 points.

Other Pima finishes at the Indoor National Championships:

The Aztecs will open the Outdoor Season on Mar. 21-22 as part of the Willie Williams Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona. It will be held at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
