Critchlow Has Eight RBIs as Softball Goes 3-0 at El Paso Invitational

The Pima Community College softball team (16-7) put on an offensive display at the El Paso CC Invitational on Saturday winning three games and enforcing the run-rule in each victory.

The No. 9 ranked Aztecs were led by freshman Bailey Critchlow, who finished the day 8-for-10 with eight RBIs, two runs scored and a win on the mound. Pima scored 33 runs for the day.

Game 1: Pima CC Aztecs 11, Dodge City CC Conquistadors (KS) 1 (6 innings)

The Aztecs scored four runs in the sixth inning to help seal the run-rule victory. Critchlow hit an RBI double while freshman Amy Pacheco (Sahuaro HS), and sophomores Araceli Peralta (Tucson Magnet HS) and Christine Olivas (Hamilton HS) each contributed with RBI singles in the inning.

Olivas also hit a two-run RBI single in the fourth inning as she finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. Critchlow went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Freshman Courtney Brown was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Critchlow picked up the win on the mound (8-3) as she pitched six innings giving up one run (one earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Game 2: Pima CC Aztecs 10, Pratt CC Beavers 0 (5 innings)

The Aztecs wasted no time as they posted nine runs in the first inning. The first eight batters for Pima reach base. Brown and sophomore Kalynn Martinez (Sunnyside HS) set the tone with back-to-back triples while Critchlow and freshman Margarita Corona (Tucson Magnet HS) hit back-to-back RBI doubles.

Critchlow finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Martinez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Freshmen Gabriella Gorosave, Gabriela Trejo (Desert View HS) and Corona each had an RBI and a run scored.

Freshman pitcher Luisa Silvain (Cholla HS) pitched five shutout innings as she gave up three hits on 56 pitches.

Game 3: Pima CC Aztecs 12, El Paso CC Tejanos 3 (6 innings)

The Aztecs capped off their third straight run-rule win with seven runs in the sixth inning. Freshman Bailey Pavelich (Cienega HS) and Crichlow each hit two-run RBI singles in the inning.

Corona hit RBI singles in the first and third innings and had an RBI double in the sixth as she finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Critchlow went 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Martinez was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Pavelich went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Sophomore Odalis Orduno (Desert View HS) picked up the win (7-3) as she pitched six innings giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits with one strikeout and three walks.

The Aztecs get back to ACCAC conference play as they host Central Arizona College on Tuesday at the West Campus. The games are at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
