The Pima Community College softball team's season came to an end on Friday at the Region I, Division I Tournament in Prescott.

The Aztecs dropped their first two games on the day to finish in fourth place. The Aztecs were able to manufacture base runners but had trouble bringing them in as they finished the day leaving 15 on base.

Game 1: (2) Central Arizona College Vaqueras 5, (3) Pima CC Aztecs 2: The Vaqueras opened a sizable lead in the fifth inning with four runs and the Pima rally was cut short in the seventh.

The Vaqueras scored the first run of the game after a throwing error. They got to freshman pitcher Mandy Lorenson (Ironwood Ridge HS) in the fifth as they loaded the bases and Lorenson threw back-to-back walks and gave up an RBI single.

Sophomore Amy Pacheco (Sahuaro HS) and freshman Alyse Talamante hit back-to-back singles to open the top of the seventh and sophomore Gabriella Gorosave was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Sophomore Courtney Brown (Flowing Wells HS) hit a two-run RBI single to score pinch runners Chandler Arviso (Cibola HS) and Edith Prieto (Sunnyside HS). Sophomore Mari Ruiz (Cholla HS), who also came in as pinch runner, was forced out between third base and home plate. Sophomore Bailey Critchlow flied out to end the game.
