Faith Orton and Kelli Samorano named Third Team All-ACCAC

Aztecs softball sophomores Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) and Kelli Samorano (Tucson Magnet HS) were named Third Team All-ACCAC. Orton batted .337 with 14 runs, nine extra-base hits, 31 RBIs and six walks while Samorano batted .357 with 20 runs, 10 extra-base hits, 20 RBIs and 10 walks. A pair of Pima Community College softball players received recognition as the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference named its All-ACCAC and All-Region teams on Monday.

  • Sophomore right-handed pitcher Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) and sophomore catcher Kelli Samorano (Tucson Magnet HS) were both selected third team All-ACCAC in battery.
  • Orton played in 34 games as she finished with a .337 batting average with 30 hits in 89 at-bats. She scored 14 runs with nine extra-base hits, 31 RBIs and six walks. She also had a .923 fielding percentage. Orton went 17-9 on the mound in 142.2 innings pitched with 104 strikeouts in 29 appearances.
  • Samorano batted .357 in 42 games played. She produced 45 hits in 126 at-bats with 20 runs scored, 10 extra-base hits, 20 RBIs and 10 walks. Samorano finished with a .978 fielding percentage.
  • The Aztecs will be the No. 4 seed at the NJCAA Region I, Division I Tournament this Friday and Saturday. They will start off the double elimination tournament against No. 1 Yavapai College on Friday at 11:00 a.m. All the games will be played at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott, AZ.
