Four Score in Double Figures as Aztecs Women's Basketball Win Opener

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (1-0) opened regular season play on Thursday in the Arizona Western Classic in Yuma.

The No. 10 ranked Aztecs dominated as they defeated Cetys University (Mexico) 86-29. Pima led 44-13 at halftime as they limited Cetys to three points in the second quarter.

Sophomore forward Taylor Blue (Peoria HS) led the way with 22 points on 10 for 18 shooting. Fellow sophomore Shalise Fernander (Flowing Wells HS) finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Aubre Fortner and sophomore Gabby Banales (Cienega HS) each had 10 points.

The Aztecs outrebounded Cetys 41-27. Sophomore Kristin Baldwin (Thatcher HS) had 14 rebounds to go along with eight points while fellow sophomore Hayley Pryor (Basha HS) had 11 rebounds and six points.

The Aztecs continue play in the Arizona Western Classic on Friday. They'll go up against New Mexico Junior College at 10:00 a.m.
