Aztecs Women's Basketball Go Undefeated at Bruce Fleck Classic

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (12-3) closed out 2015 winning its sixth straight game on Thursday.

The Aztecs went 3-0 in the Bruce Fleck Classic after they defeated South Mountain Community College 68-36. The Aztecs improved to 8-0 on their home court at the West Campus.

The Aztecs went on a 15-0 run in the first quarter to take a 20-3 lead. Later, up 20-7, they went on another 15-0 run to take a 35-7 lead. Pima led 42-16 at halftime.

Sophomore Shalise Fernander (Flowing Wells HS) scored the first nine of Pima's 11 points to start off the third quarter. She finished the game with a team-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds and four steals. Fellow sophomore Taylor Blue (Peoria HS) scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half. Freshman Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde HS) had five points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.

The Aztecs defeated Parkland College (IL) on Tuesday 99-71 and Division I team Snow College 73-69 on Wednesday in Bruce Fleck Classic competition.

The Aztecs get back to ACCAC conference play when they host Arizona Western College (Division I) on Wednesday at the West Campus. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.
