Baldwin and Smith Produce Double-Doubles in Women's Basketball Win

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (15-3, 9-1 in ACCAC) earned its ninth straight win on Wednesday in Phoenix.

The Aztecs went on a 21-4 run in the second quarter and went on to defeat South Mountain Community College (0-14, 0-10) 81-28. The Aztecs didn't give up more than eight points to the Cougars in each quarter.

Sophomore Kristin Baldwin (Thatcher HS) led the Aztecs with 15 points and 11 rebounds (six offensive). She also had three blocks and two steals. Freshman Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) also contributed with a double-double as she had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Smith went 6 for 6 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Taylor Blue (Peoria HS) had 12 points on 5 for 6 shooting from the field while freshman Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde HS) had 11 points and six steals. Sophomore Shalise Fernander (Flowing Wells HS) finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Aztecs out-rebounded the Cougars 44-20 and Pima finished the game with 21 steals.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus on Saturday when they host Scottsdale Community College. The women's game will be at 7:00 p.m. following the men's basketball game.
