The Pima Community College women's basketball team (23-7, 17-5 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Tuesday at Scottsdale Community College.
The No. 5 ranked Aztecs defeated the Artichokes 69-53 sweeping the regular season head-to-head meetings. Pima won 77-55 at the West Campus last month.
Sophomore Shalise Fernander (Flowing Wells HS) took control of the game as she finished with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. She was also 8 for 8 from the free throw line. Freshman Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) fell short of a triple-double as she posted 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. She went 4 for 8 from the field. Freshman Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde HS) finished in double figures for the eighth straight game with 16 points.
The Aztecs will be the No. 1 seed for the Region I, Division II tournament. They will host No. 4 seed Scottsdale Community College next Tuesday (Mar. 1) at the West Campus. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
