Aztecs women's basketball score over 100 points to down Chandler-Gilbert

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (7-1, 2-0 in ACCAC) ran away with the lead in the first half on Wednesday at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (0-8, 0-2).

The No. 1 ranked Aztecs defeated the Coyotes 104-34 earning its first road conference win of the season. The Aztecs have also won six straight.

The Aztecs outscored the Coyotes 24-9 in the first quarter and secured a 53-14 advantage at halftime.

Sophomore Denesia Smith (Cienega HS) posted a team-high 20 points to go along with five assists and five steals. Fellow sophomore Moana Hala'ufia (Marana HS) posted 16 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Bree Cates, who was a transfer from Chandler-Gilbert, finished with 14 points against her old team. Sophomore Erin Peterson (Catalina Foothills HS) contributed with 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Aztecs return to the West Campus gymnasium on Saturday when they host Glendale Community College at 2:00 p.m.
