Seven score in double figures as Aztecs Women's Basketball scores 114 points in season opener

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (1-0) opened its 2023-24 regular season schedule on Saturday as it took on Community Christian College at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
- Seven players scored in double figures as the No. 9 ranked Aztecs defeated the Saints 114-25.
- The Aztecs outscored Community Christian 31-4 in the first quarter and led 59-9 at halftime. The Aztecs didn't give up double digit scoring in any of the quarters. Pima shot 52 percent for the game.
- Sophomore Dominique Acosta (Nogales HS) led the way with 20 points as she went 9 for 11 from the field and fell short of a double-double with nine rebounds.
- Freshman Rori Hoffmeyer (Cibola HS) came off the bench and scored 15 points on 7 for 10 shooting and also added six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Freshman Gabby Lopez (Bisbee HS) also fell short of a double-double as she posted 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench while fellow freshman Sage Begay (Flagstaff HS) also had 14 points.
- Freshman Gabriella Sanchez (Tucson Magnet HS) and sophomore Taina Lee each finished with 12 points while freshman Amelie Buffill-Gutierrez (Sabino HS) posted 11 points on 5 for 7 shooting with four assists. Freshman Rylei Waugh finished with 10 assists.
The Aztecs will play three games as part of the Eastern Arizona Classic from Nov. 9-11 in Thatcher, AZ. They will face off against South Plains College on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
