Cassie Coolidge scores 13 off the bench as No. 13 Women's Basketball uses double digit runs to beat Cuyamaca College
The Pima Community College women's basketball team (11-3) closed out play in the Aztec Holiday Classic on Monday against Cuyamaca College (6-5) at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
- The No. 13 ranked Aztecs defeated the Coyotes 88-36 to finish up the invitational with a 2-1 record.
- The Aztecs trailed early 11-6 but went on a 20-4 run to take a double-digit lead at 26-15. Pima led 42-21 at halftime.
- The Aztecs took firm control in the third quarter as they outscored Cuyamaca 23-6 and shot 10 for 13 from the field to go up 65-27. The Aztecs outscored the Coyotes 46-15 in the second half.
- Freshman Cassie Coolidge (Sahuaro HS) scored a team-high 13 points off the bench as she went 5 for 7 from the field and 3 for 4 from three-point range. She also had three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
- Freshman Kiley Sours-Miller produced her second straight double-double as she finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She went 4 for 8 from the field and also had two steals and two blocks in 16 minutes of play. She averaged 14 points and nine rebounds during the Aztec Holiday Classic.
- Freshman Lucy Land scored in double figures for the second straight game as she contributed with 11 points after going 3 for 6 shooting and 2 for 3 from beyond the arc.
- Freshman Sofia Cambridge (Page HS) finished the game with eight points while sophomore Katie Burns (Catalina Foothills HS) had seven points, seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. Sophomore Amelie Buffill-Gutierrez (Sabino HS) and freshman Keira Beall-Gleason also each scored seven points. Sophomore Tayden Hanks added six points and five rebounds.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday when they play Yavapai College in a non-conference game. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
