The Pima Community College women's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 in ACCAC) bounced back from Tuesday's loss with a shutout victory in its home opener on Saturday at Kino North Grandstand.
The No. 9 ranked Aztecs defeated South Mountain Community College (0-2, 0-2) 4-0. They led 2-0 at halftime.
Sophomore Shania Pablo (Tucson Magnet HS) helped seal it for the Aztecs as she scored two goals in the second half. She hit a shot in the 48th minute and again in the 69th. Pablo also assisted in fellow sophomore Maria Delgadillo's (Rio Rico HS) goal in the 30th minute which made it 2-0.
Freshman Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) put the Aztecs on the board in the 27th minute after a cross-pass assist from fellow freshman Taylor Inocencio (St. Augustine Catholic HS).
The Aztecs' defense allowed just two shots on goal for the Cougars. Sophomore goalkeeper Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) had one save in the first half. Freshman Tara Kase (Buena HS) played the second half and finished with one save.
The Aztecs will host Phoenix College on Tuesday at the Kino North Grandstand. The game starts at 7:00 p.m.
