(7) Aztecs women's soccer surrenders late goal in loss at (5) Phoenix College

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (6-2, 1-1 in ACCAC) played a tough match-up to open the second half of the regular season on Saturday at Phoenix College (6-2, 3-0).

  • The No. 7 ranked Aztecs gave up a late goal in the second half and fell 1-0 to the No. 5 ranked Bears in a battle between two NJCAA Division II nationally ranked teams.
  • Jazmin Gonzalez scored the goal for Phoenix College in the 88th minute.
  • The Aztecs were held to three shots on goal for the game. Sophomore Angelina Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished with nine saves.
  • The Aztecs and the Bears split the regular season head-to-head meetings. Pima beat previously No. 1 ranked Phoenix College 2-1 to open the 2021 season on August 28.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field at the Chapman Automotive Sports Complex on Tuesday when they host Glendale Community College at 4:30 p.m.
