Aztecs Women's Soccer season ends at the NJCAA National Tournament

The Pima Community College women's soccer's season officially came to an end on Tuesday at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

• Though the Aztecs won their game on Monday night, they fell short of reaching the National Semifinal round after No. 3 seed Heartland Community College beat No. 10 Pensacola State College 10-1 to advance out of Pool C.
• The No. 6 seeded Aztecs fell to Heartland 3-1 on Sunday but bounced back to beat Pensacola State 4-3 in overtime on Monday to finish 1-1 in pool play.
• "After losing the first game to te No. 3 seed (Heartland) of the tournament, I knew we didn't have a good chance to advance, but last night we showed we were not going down without a fight," Pima women's soccer coach Kendra Veliz said. "I'm proud of my team for not giving up, especially after going down 2-0.
  "Overall we had a good season and I'm happy the team got to finish with a win. I'm grateful that we were selected as an at-large and that our athletic department supported us attending."

The Aztecs closed out the season with a 13-5 overall record. They have finished with 13 or more wins in three of the last four years. Their 11-3 ACCAC conference record is the most wins since 2017 when they went 15-4-1. They advanced to the Region I, Division II Finals for the third straight year and have made the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in three of the last four years.
