Trinity Bethea sets new school record as Women's Track & Field gains five national qualifiers

The Pima Community College women's track & field competed at the Willie Williams Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium hosted by the University of Arizona.

  • Sophomore Trinity Bethea earned a national qualifier in the 400 meters and broke the Pima Outdoor school record with a time of 56.23 seconds. She toppled Aly Haskell's record of 56.32 set in 2012.
  • Freshman Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) earned two NJCAA national qualifying marks, which puts her at three total so far this Outdoor season. She set her first mark in the Javelin with a throw of 36.64 meters (120-feet, 2-inches). Then she qualified in the Long Jump at 5.70 meters (18-8.5). She set a qualifier in the Heptathlon last week at the Mesa Multi's.
  • Freshman Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) gained her national qualifying mark in the Pole Vault as she vaulted at 3.30 meters (10-10).
  • Freshman Bella Hofmann (Campo Verde HS) set her qualifier in the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.16 meters (39-10.75)
  • Sophomores Kapualani Magnani, Annika Arvayo and Tianna Moseley all improved on their previous national marks. Magnani improved on her Hammer Throw qualifier with a mark of 48.03 meters (157-7). It was her second week setting a personal-record in the event as her previous mark was set at 45.98 meters (150-10). Arvayo also improved in the Hammer Throw as she finished with a throw of 47.43 meters (155-7) from her previous throw of 45.50 meters (149-3). Moseley also improved in the Triple Jump as she claimed third place at 12.35 meters (40-6.25). She improved from 12.21 meters (40-0.5).

The Aztecs will compete in the ACCAC Conference Championships on Friday held at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix.
